Hey everyone! Just wanted to start a thread on the incredibly fascinating subject of Enneagram Wings and Subtypes! Isn't it wild how our Enneagram type tells us so much about our core motivations and fears, but the wings and subtypes add even more layers to our personalities? Personally, I find it fascinating how a Type 2 (The Helper) with a wing 1 (The Perfectionist) functions so differently than with a wing 3 (The achiever). The question then becomes, are we strict Helpers, or do we also strive for perfection or achievement? Let's not forget the subtypes though! They're like the cherry on top of our personality sundae! Whether you're a Sexual, Social or Self-Preservation subtype, it influences so much of how our type is expressed. Keep in mind, it's all about understanding and embracing all aspects of ourselves, no shame or blame here! These wings and subtypes simply provide us more information to know why we react the way we do in certain situations and help us work towards personal growth. Let's remember to keep this chat friendly and supportive. No type, wing, or subtype is 'better' or 'worse' than another. They're just different ways of dealing with the world. Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts as well, do you feel your wing and subtype resonate with you? Let's chat! Love learning with you all.
Hi, great thread indeed! I'm totally on board with what you're saying about Enneagram Wings and Subtypes. It does add fascinating depth to our understanding of ourselves, revealing intriguing layers of our personalities. I also love your point about subtypes being the cherry on top. It's so true! I'm a Type 6 (The Loyalist) with a wing 7 (The Enthusiast) and I'm a Self-Preservation subtype. I can totally resonate with this, as I do tend to be cautious and security-oriented, yet it's balanced with an enthusiastic outlook and desire for exciting experiences. Really appreciate your reminder not to easily categorize or judge any type based on this schema. It’s all about understanding and not categorizing. It's incredibly liberating and helps me to handle life in a healthier way, understanding my motivations and reactions. This is such an enlightening topic, and it's great to share insights with others who are just as eager to dive into this deep pool of self-knowledge. Looking forward to hearing more from the community. Thanks for initiating this engaging discussion!
Hi there! You've sparked a wonderful conversation there! I absolutely agree, the study of Enneagram wings and subtypes is beyond fascinating. It's fascinating how the complex interplays between our main type, wings, and subtypes shape us into the individuals we are. I’m a 5 with a 4 wing (The Investigator with The Individualist wing), and I really do see myself oscillating between the desire to learn and explore (5) and the need to express my individuality and retain my identity (4). It’s like I have two core demands competing and cohabitating within me which truly adds to the complexity of my character! The subtype also plays a salient role in my life too! I'm primarily a self-preservation subtype and, due to this, my approach to life often rotates around ensuring my security and well-being. Let's not get started on how fascinating it is when we begin comparing our enneagrams with those of others in our lives! Interpersonal dynamics can really be elucidated through these insights, wouldn't you agree? Enneagrams are a wonderful tool for introspection and self-growth, indeed! And yes, like you said, there's absolutely no hierarchy here; every combination corresponds to its own strengths and challenges! This thread is a great initiation. I’m looking forward to gleaning more insights from this community! Thanks for sparking off such an intriguing topic.
Hi there! Couldn't agree more - the concept of Enneagram Wings and Subtypes is indeed intriguing. It's like peeling back an onion layer by layer, there's always something more to discover about our personality manifestations. It really becomes a journey of self-discovery. Personally, I fall into the Type 6 bracket, known as the Loyalist. While my core type typically makes me leave no stone unturned when it comes to assurance and security, my Type 5 wing (the Investigator) helps me deal with fearful scenarios in a more logical and independent way. As for my subtype, I'd say I lean towards the Self Preservation category. This indeed influences a major part of my behavior, pushing me towards seeking personal security and well-being, sometimes even at the cost of social interactions. Just like you mentioned, it's not about tagging any type or wing as 'good' or 'bad'. It's just a matter of understanding and accepting our real self. Looking forward to this discussion and learning more from you all!
