Each type of the 9 represents different ways we cope with life’s quirks and hiccups. For instance, 7s are fun-loving, carefree types who might forget to take their vitamins because they’re too busy belly dancing. The 2s are the juicy, caring ones; they might stress themselves out trying to bake, knit, and yoga for everyone else but forget their own wellness. Meanwhile, 3s are eternally chasing success and might exercise intensely...to the point of exhaustion. The Enneagram is marketed as a tool for personal growth and wellness enhancement, promising detailed insights into our own and others' personalities. However, skepticism arises due to its lack of empirical support. Enneagram derives from esoteric teachings, not vital health science, making its categorization of nine distinct personality types suspiciously simplistic. Each human being is complex, with diverse experiences and psychology, and pigeonholing them into nine categories seems overreductive. Moreover, self-assessment tools are naturally subject to biases and inaccuracy. The Enneagram may at best offer a vague approximation of a person's persona but doesn't hold the keys to unlocking holistic health and personal well-being.
